my values

Neutrality is a myth. Business is inherently political.

Here’s what I believe in:

Everyone deserves to exist. Food is a human right. So is water, shelter, and healthcare. And so is the ability to walk down the street knowing you won’t be ridiculed, or worse, attacked, for being who you are–regardless of your gender, race, sexuality, or immigration status.

Individual responsibility is great; systemic change is better. Not everyone has the luxury to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps.” As much as I love a good self-help book, many (most) of the problems we face as a society require systemic solutions, not empty platitudes.

None of us are free until all of us are free. While I believe in focusing 80% of my activism efforts on local causes, I am not naive enough to think that the things happening on the other side of the world have nothing to do with me. The patterns of oppression and injustice will repeat themselves until we make them inexcusable in all circumstances.

Accessibility matters. Archetypal systems like astrology, Human Design, and Gene Keys shouldn’t just be a tool for the rich and the able-bodied. I want my work to increase access to this knowledge, rather than continue serving the interests of the already dominant group.

Honoring the roots of the systems you use is important. Astrology was not invented by white people. Human Design would not exist without the multiple ancient systems that form the foundation of it. How can we honor the places and people this incredible knowledge originated with in our daily life?

Disagreement is fine; dehumanization is not. There’s a difference between saying “I think we should handle this differently by implementing XYZ policy instead” and “this group of people does not deserve our care because of ABC.” Human dignity is never up for debate.

And here’s a (probably incomplete) list of things I’m doing to put these ideas into practice:

  • Building a directory of + actively recommending service providers who don’t benefit from the same privileges as I do (#hireBlackastrologers)
  • Learning about the roots of the systems that make up Human Design (namely, tropical astrology, the Chinese I’Ching, the Hindu Brahmin chakra system, and the Kabbalah Tree of Life)
  • Directing a portion of my profits to war relief efforts in Ukraine, as well as helping the most vulnerable communities in my local area
  • Sharing transcripts + written notes as a part of my post-session workflow, as well as including them in any digital products I create
  • Minimizing the use of generative AI, as much as possible (the IP theft + damage the data centers are doing to local communities are a big “no” for me)
  • Working on a pay-what-you-can model for YouTube readings, as well as implementing a monthly pro bono session into my business model
